Brazil Program Co-Coordinator

Cybele is an MSc. biologist and, since 2009, she has been curator of amphibians, reptiles, and invertebrates at São Paulo Zoo, Brazil. Throughout these years, in addition to overseeing the zoo’s daily operations, she has been deeply committed to amphibian conservation, with a primary focus on ex situ initiatives. She has coordinated two pioneering programs dedicated to endangered amphibian species in Brazil: Ololygon alcatraz and Nyctimantis pomba. Since 2016, she has been the Regional Chair of the Brazilian Amphibian Specialist Group (ASG-Brazil/IUCN SSC), where she leads conservation actions in collaboration with her team, including the development of action plans for endangered species. Alongside Renata Vaz, since 2023, Cybele has also been coordinating a regional program for Amphibian Ark to enhance ex situ conservation efforts across Brazil.
