The amphibian ex situ conservation breeding program for Guatemalan amphibians is coordinated by María José Chang. This National Program was established in 2025, after a 2024 CNA conducted with Guatemalan amphibian experts resulted in the recommendation of several species for ex situ rescue. The goal of this program is to raise awareness about ex situ conservation strategies and strengthen the conservation of endangered amphibians in Guatemala. Majo provides support for our in-country partners, facilitates collaboration among interested institutions working with amphibians, coordinates trainings and technical support where needed, and translates AArk CNA's into action.
