Building Capacity

Equipping conservationists with the skills to safeguard amphibians

At Amphibian Ark, we recognize that successful ex situ amphibian conservation programs require well-trained personnel. We prioritize capacity building in countries where ex situ rescue efforts are most needed, and our country coordinators help us identify the local needs.

We both lead and participate in workshops around the globe; we provide grants for practitioners to attend and/or plan workshops related to ex situ conservation, conservation planning, and reintroduction for amphibians.

Through expert-led training, we help conservationists develop the technical skills and knowledge necessary to establish and manage ex situ amphibian programs—ensuring that rescued species have the best chance of survival and, ultimately, reintroduction into the wild.

Our mission for Amphibian Ark training programs is to develop institutional and national capacity that results in the implementation of successful ex situ amphibian conservation programs in the context of integrated amphibian conservation plans.

Our training goals are threefold

To provide technical skills necessary for long-term management of ex situ amphibian populations.

To build networking capacity for practitioners in range countries.

To provide guidance on developing regional conservation plans and strategies for collaboration with in situ practitioners.

While we prioritize the institutional and national training needs in our National Programs, we also lead and contribute to other amphibian conservation workshops throughout the world. Don't hesitate to contact us if you have inquirise on our trainings in successful ex-situ amphibian conservation from species selection to reintroductions, with a focus on husbandry, health, biosecurity, and population management.
