2024 Workshop Grant: An Amphibian Ex Situ Conservation Veterinary Medicine Workshop in Brazil

In 2024, we granted one Workshop Planning Grant to Sao Paulo Zoo, led by Fabricio Rassy and Iago Junqueira, for the development of a veterinary medicine workshop for amphibian ex situ conservation practitioners. This workshop will take place in 2025, hosted by Sao Paulo Zoo.

This workshop will train participants from zoos, aquariums, and other conservation institutions across Latin America in ex situ amphibian medicine. Topics will include health management, quarantine protocols, nutrition, disease pathology, and diagnostics, with a mix of theoretical and practical lessons. Participants will also share case studies from their institutions. The goal is to standardize techniques, enhance conservation medicine skills, and foster collaboration among professionals, directly benefiting ongoing ex situ projects. 

This workshop is planned to take place in Sao Paulo Zoo in August 2025.
